Luke

D Winter Camping
Winter camping is a specialized form of backpacking that is becoming increasingly popular. Because hiking in deep snow can be extremely tiring, winter campers use snowshoes, skis, or a vehicle such as a snowmobile to reach secluded areas. Campsites near natural hot springs are a favorite of many winter campers. To enter the wilderness safely during winter, campers must be experienced and physically fit. They may face temperatures below O° C (32° F).
Many tents do not shield against fierce winter winds, so winter campers build shelters called snow caves by burrowing into deep snow drifts with specially made snow shovels. Some winter campers even build igloo-like shelters from blocks of snow and ice. Total and incomparable silence and a pristine, snow-covered landscape make the added effort worthwhile for most winter campers.
篮球专题:
Every game begins with a jump ball at the center of the court. With one player from each team lined up in the midcourt circle, a referee tosses the ball high into the air, and the two players attempt to direct the ball to one of their own teammates. The team that gains possession plays offense, and the opposition plays defense, protecting its own basket until it regains possession of the ball. The offensive team has a set time, usually 35 seconds or less (depending on the level of competition), to score by putting the ball through the opposition's basket. (Scoring a basket is also known as scoring a field goal or a hoop.) The time to shoot is measured by a shot clock positioned in the arena for easy viewing from the court. An offensive player cannot run or walk with the ball without dribbling (bouncing the ball against the ground). The ball may also be advanced by passing it to a teammate. Once a player stops dribbling, the ball must be shot, passed to a teammate, or touched by another player before the first player can regain the ball and dribble again.
如何学单词专题:
LEARN ENGLISH IDIOMS
If you want to learn English vocabulary, you have to figure out what idioms are all about. Idioms are a cluster of words that make an expression – they cannot and should not be taken literally. Plugging idioms in your conversation make your words bark and bite at the same time. This section will help you achieve that.
LEARN ENGLISH ARTICLES
English articles are of two types – definite (the) and indefinite (a, an). We can "definitely" tell you that browsing this section will make you master the English articles "indefinitely".
LEARN ENGLISH WRITING AS YOU LEARN ENGLISH VOCABULARY
Okay, having picked up and learned English vocabulary from the previous sections, you now have to get a hang of writing proper English, using the right words – powerful words that will make an impact on the reader. The resources in this section will teach you how to write right.

A
Part I—Fantine
The year is 1815 and Napoleon has just been defeated at Waterloo. Bishop Myriel lives a quiet life as a just man, who is especially sympathetic toward the poor, bandits, and convicts. One day a strange man asks for shelter at his home and, with his usual compassion, the bishop gives him room and board. This man is Jean Valjean, who has just been released from prison after serving a lengthy, unjust sentence, during which he tried to escape numerous times. Valjean is angry, hurt, and revengeful. His soul has “withered” and all but died. The bishop urges him to replace anger with goodwill in order to be worthy of respect: “You have left a place of suffering. But listen, there will be more joy in heaven over the tears of a repentant sinner, than over the white robes of a hundred good men. If you are leaving that sorrowful place with hate and anger against men, you are worthy of compassion; if you leave it with goodwill, gentleness, and peace, you are better than any of us.”
